Eggs vs. Bacon

Of course it was a mock trial,
just to stick it to the eggs
who always took the high road,
trusting in justice to bring in
a non-guilty verdict.
Bacon was in rare form,
crackling and splattering
from the witness chair,
mugging for the cameras.
Angry eggs were muttering,
stuttering, about how the bacon
wanted more room on the plate–
those flat skinny slats.  What nerve!
Judge says, not another peep
or I will hold you in contempt,
a possibility that tested
the eggs’ ability to remain
silent.  Bacon’s full blown
sarcasm would crumble
in the face of the eggs’
testimony.  They were already
beginning to poach.
